Their great-grandmother gathered the drawings together, then saw her idea through - she had a charming little book published with the poem and all the illustrations. In the end, they made 38 drawings, including a brightly colored “fox with chickenpox.” It didn’t take Khani and Kayla very long to fire up their imaginations and their crayons, colored pencils, and markers. To keep Kayla and Khani drawing, she sent them a poem she’d written about three years ago called “Some Funny Things I’ve Seen” and challenged them to draw pictures for each “funny thing” the poem describes.
